Itinerary – Highlights

Sun. Schedule your departure to coincide with arrival into Israel on Monday. There will be one group pick up at the airport and this will be determined by the majority of the people arriving at the same time.

Mon. Arrival into Israel (or if in Israel already, make your way to Jerusalem) group transfer to Jerusalem and check into the hotel to unpack, relax or start to explore the city on your own, prepare to meet the group for dinner. 

Tue. – Start the day at Yemin Moshe Windmill, walk to the secret Mt. Zion tunnel and climb through it up to King David’s traditional tomb. Explore the Jewish Quarter, Emek Tzurim sifting project, spend some spiritual time at the Kotel. End the day in the City of David and Hezekayas Water Tunnel (bring water proof shoes), walk on Old City Walls. Optional evening sound and light show.

Wed. Early start to the day as we drive towards the lowest point on earth to explore the area. After a short hike at Ein Gedi we will continue to Massada Mountain Fortress. We will end the day trying to swim (float) in the Dead Sea.

Thu. Start the day with a short visit to Kever Rochel (Rachel’s Tomb) and continue to Hevron and the Cave of Machpela, then to Gush Etzyon. The Alone Tree, we will learn about the Shmita experience and have time for optional ATVS on Derech Haavot, Deerland rope course (optional zip line).

Fri. Driven tour of Jerusalem. Drive via the Jerusalem Mountains to the Avshalom Stalamite Cave. End the day with a visit to the Biblical Museum of Natural History. Return to hotel to prepare for Shabbat.

Sat. Shabbat Shalom

Sun. Checkout of hotel for northern journey. Visit the newly opened Shaar Hagai – 1948 experience, continue to Migdal Tzedek Fortress – overlooking the Via Maris and learn about the battle of Shilo. Continue via route 6 to the biblical Tel of Meggido – visit the palaces, royal stables and exit through the ancient water system. Check into Kibbutz Lavi hotel for a two night stay.

Mon. Golan Adventure. Start the day off with optional rafting on the Jordan  River or jeeping in the area. Continue to Tel Dan Nature Reserve and explore the natural beauty of the place. Drive up to the Ben Tal Volcano and view the amazing outlook from the top. Enjoy the sweet taste of chocolate at the De Karina Chocolate factory.

Tue. Checkout of the hotel and take an early morning tour of the kibbutz, before continuing to Tzefat to explore the area with hands on activities and learn about the Golden Age of this mystical city. Drive via the Upper Galil to the Rosh Hanikra Grottoes, continue down  the coast to Netanya and overnight in the city.

Wed. Explore the ancient Roman city of Ceasarea including a new movie about Herod. Drive to Kibbutz Sdot to the renewed Bet Chana Senesh Museum to learn about the brave paratrooper. End the day back in Netanya to enjoy beach time & fun activities.

Thu. Check out of Netanya hotel and drive to Tel Aviv, walk along Independence Route – find out some of the secrets of the city. End the day exploring Old Jaffa. Return to Jerusalem for the remainder of the tour.

Fri. Free day to explore on your own.

Sat. Shabbat Shalom. Late checkout and evening group transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for return flight home.

Oct. 12 – Our Tanach & Mishna will come alive today with a tour of the Phillistine Museum in Ashdod, a visit to Yavne the tomb of Raban Gamliel. A visit to the Hesder Yeshiva in Kityat Gat with Lunch in the area. Continue to Tel Lacish to combine Tanach history and archeology emphasizing the story of the Assyrian conquest in the days of King Hezekayah.

Oct. 13 – Walking tour – Visit to the Kotel to spend some special time davening there and experiencing the Kotel during the Succot Yom Tov. Continue to Ir David to the newly discovered streets and structures in the historic City of David. Walk through the Cardo and a visit to Plugat Batar Museum.

Oct. 14 – Visit Rachel’s Tomb. Continue to Mea’arat Hamachpela and Hevron. Explore Herodion and the underground aqueduct of En Biyar.

Sun. Schedule your departure to coincide with arrival into Israel on Monday. There will be one group pick up at the airport and this will be determined by the majority of the people arriving at the same time. Mon. Arrival into Israel. Group transfer to NYX Hotel in Herzlia. After check in feel free to explore the area, walk the beach promenade, enjoy the amenities of the hotel, relax and then prepare to meet the group for dinner. Tue. “Halutzim” – today we will learn about the Zionist pioneers. Walk the Independence Trail and pass that states major landmarks – Beit Haatzmaut, Hagana Museum, Bank of Israel, and the first houses of Tel Aviv. Enjoy the arts and crafts fair at Nahalat Binyamin Street, continue to Old Jaffa and then to the Peres Innovation Center to learn about the cutting edge Israeli innovations – the pioneers of today. Wed. Check out of Herzlia Hotel. Start the day at the Appolonia National Park in Herzlia – from Royal Purple and Glass to Crusader ruins and British police this site gives us a glimpse of the importance of the Coastal Plain. From here we will drive north on the Via Maris to our next stop at Tel Yokneam (from the days of Joshua to modern times) – the gateway to the Jezreel Valley, enjoy the view  and the ruins. We will then continue to BARA Naturopathy Visitor Center to enjoy a fragrant in depth tour. In Yokneam we will visit “A Great Mini World” – museum of miniatures. Overnight in Kibbutz Lavi Hotel. Thu. Tour Kibbutz Lavi. Drive to the Lebanese border and meet with Eitan from Malkiya for a geopolitical tour. We will bring snacks for the soldiers guarding the area. From here we will travel to Tzefat and learn about the Golden Age of this mystical city, with time to do some exploring on our own before we take a visit to R. Shimon Bar Yochai tomb in Meiron. Return to Kibbutz Lavi Hotel. Fri. Check out of Kibbutz Lavi. Visit the “Gate to Redemption” – the ancient Arbel Synagogue, is part of the Sanhedrin Trail. The Jewish center moved to this area after the Bar Kochva revolt. There are many traces of Jewish life in the region; this is a less known one that we shall explore. The memorial to the lone soldier Max Steinberg is also located here and we will pay him our respects. Driven tour of Tverya, optional boat ride on the Kinneret. Drive to Merom Golan to prepare for Shabbat.

Sat. Shabbat Shalom in Merom Golan. Enjoy a tranquil Shabbat in the mountains.

Sun. Checkout of the hotel. A taste of the Golan – the Golan is known for its strategic and water importance. Today we will enjoy the fruits  of the kibbutz and moshav members, they changed the Golan into a fun and bountiful area . We will visit the large Breisheet Fruit Packing Center then enjoy a  sweet stop at De Karina Chocolate factory. We will tour one of the Golan’s famous wineries and have a L’Chaim. Then we will drive via the Jordan Valley to the Dead Sea and check in the hotel. Mon. A day of leisure. The Dead Sea is known for its healing and calming atmosphere; here at the lowest place upon the earth you enjoy floating in the Dead Sea or a spa treatment at the hotel. For those interested – there will be a tour of the new Moshe Novomeisky Historic Visitor Center to learn about Zionism and determination – the creation of the Dead Sea Works. In the afternoon enjoy an optional jeep ride.
Tue. Checkout of the hotel. We will start the day at the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve – a great background for discussing the first kings of Israel – Saul and David. We will stop for an optional camel ride and then enjoy lunch at Maale Adumim, our first view of Jerusalem from Mount Olives is a chance to say Shehecheyanu. From here we will go to the Kotel, and then check into the Leonardo Plaza in Jerusalem till the end of our stay. Wed. We will start the day in Hevron – the Cave of Machpela, we will discuss Avrahams first real estate transaction and the long history of the Jewish community in Hevron. The area of Gush Eztyon was the breadbasket of Jerusalem during the days of the First and Second Temple, the devastating results of the Bar Kochva revolt ended the Jewish presence in the Gush until the beginning of the 20th Century. Three times the area was settled but on the day of the Declaration of the State of Israel the Gush fell, nineteen years later, after the Six Day War, Israel was able to return to this area – we will have a driven tour of the Gush and visit the Kfar Etzyon Museum dedicated to this story and learn of this amazing history of the area. We will end the day at Kever Rachel. Thu. The dream and need to create an independent state lead to accepting the partition plan with Jerusalem and International City.  At the end of the War of Independence the Old City was in Jordanians hands, the closest Israelis could get to the holy sites was from Mount Zion and then enter the Old City to explore the Jewish Quarter. We will hear about the last days of the Quarter in 1948 and learn about the complexities of rebuilding this unique neighborhood. In the afternoon we will visit the Herzl Museum to learn about the beginning of the Zionist movement, out tour will end just outside the Knesset at the famous Menorah, engraved with major historical moments from our long journey home. Fri. Free day – enjoy your free time wandering around Jerusalem and seeing how the locals are getting ready for Shabbat, or enjoy a leisurely coffee and people watch from one of the many local cafes, visit some places that may interest you or do some last minute shopping before heading home.

Sat. Shabbat Shalom. Enjoy Shabbat in this Holy City of ours. After Shabbat we will have a group transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

Itinerary – Highlights

Sun. Schedule your departure to coincide with the group arrival into Israel on Monday. There is one main group pick up-up on Monday depending on the largest amount of people arriving at the same time.

Mon. Arrival into Ben Gurion Airport, group transfer to Jerusalem hotel and check into the hotel to unpack and rest or go out and explore on your own. Meet the rest of your fellow travels at dinner that evening.

Tue.  From G-ds promise to Avraham through Akedat Yitzchak we will start the day overlooking the Old City and Temple Mount from Hass Promenade. We will have a Shehachayanu ceremony and from here we will visit Kever Rochel, and speak about the yearning and return to the land. The Zionist Movement starts with the great visionary Binyamin Zeev Herzl, we will learn about him and pay respects at the Herzl Museum and Mount Herzl, in the afternoon we will have a chance to see Jerusalem at its glory at the Holyland Model of the Second Temple Jerusalem and see the Dead Sea Scrolls. We will end the day at the Kenesset menorah, depicting scenes from our Jewish history and now the symbol of Israel.

Wed. Rechovot was one of the first modern villages, founded in 1890 by Hovvei Zion it was always known for its pioneering spirit. We will spend the day exploring the secrets of the city. We will visit the Bullet Factory – the Ayalon Institute to hear about the creative ways the Hagana used in preparation for the War of Independence. We will visit a less known museum about the Yemenite community and Alliya and we will spend time at the Weitzman Institute and hear about the cutting edge of science, and talk about our first President Chaim Weitzman and his contribution to the Balfour Declaration.

Thu. During the years following Joshua’s conquest of Cnaan the spiritual and political center of Israelites was in Shiloh, today one of the sites that vest brings to life the biblical stories. We will have an in depth tour of the Biblical Tel. We will enjoy a winery tour and tasting at the Tura Winery and then go on to Ariel where we will visit the New Art Center and learn about the university and its challenges. We will end the day at the Adva Soap Factory in Kochav Hashachar. This factory was created by a father looking for a solution for his special needs son, the visit is a celebration of sight and smell.

Fri. On the 29th of November 1947 the partition plan was accepted – Jerusalem was supposed to be an international entity, within hours the War of Independence started. Jerusalem became a divided city, the Jewish Quarter fell into the Arab Legion hands and we did not have access to our holy sites. We will start the tour from Jaffa Gate overlooking the “City Line” the former border between Jordan and Israel, then to the Jewish Quarter with emphasis on 1948. Of course we will spend time by the Kotel and enjoy the Chain of Generations experience at the Kotel. Drop off at Mahane Yehuda Market to join the crowds of locals preparing for Shabbat.

Sat. Shabbat Shalom

Sun. Check out of Jerusalem hotel and to drive south. The Judean Desert was always the backyard of Judea; we will explore the impressive Mountain Fortress of Massada and discuss King Herod and the rebels lives and decisions. Enjoy the floating experience in the Dead Sea – the lowest place on earth. Tour of the new Moshe Novomeisky Historic Visitor Center to learn about Zionism and determination – the creation of the Dead Sea works and take a new drive via the Arava Valley to Eilat and overnight in Eilat.

Mon. Today we will enjoy the beauty of the Eilat Desert, at the Timna Nature Reserve – we will learn about copper mining throughout history in the visitor center. We will see the Solomon Pillars and have a chance to create our own piece of sand art. At the Chai Bar we will see the biblical desert animal sand have a safari ride to see them in their natural environment, a nice stop at the Eilat Stone factory and then an optional boat ride on the Red Sea.

Tue. During a driven tour of Eilat we will stop for great views of the Red Sea and by the Egyptian border. We will enjoy free time at the special Underwater Observatory. Free afternoon. There will be an optional jeep ride with a local guide (optional activities range from $25 to $45 per person)

Wed. Making the desert bloom – in Kibbutz Ktura we will learn about the Metuselah Date, desert farming and more. We will drive through the Negev to the impressive Ramon Crater and then to David Ben Gurion’s hut in Sde Boker to learn about leadership. Return to Jerusalem and check back into hotel for remainder of the stay.

Thu. Israel is known as startup nation – we will see some of the latest innovations at the Peres Center in Jaffa. We will stroll through Old Jaffa following the biblical connections. Then continue on a walking tour on the Independence Trail and end the day at the Haganah Museum.

Fri. Free day to enjoy, as you like wandering around Jerusalem and seeing how the locals are getting ready for Shabbat, or enjoy a leisurely coffee and people watch from one of the many local cafes, visit some places that may interest you or do some last minute shopping before heading home.
