ITINERARY – FALL 2018

Sun.           We book your departure to schedule your arrival into Israel for Monday.

Mon.          Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport – Group transfer to hotel, or if in Israel already, make your way to Jerusalem and check into hotel of your choice to unpack and prepare to meet the group for dinner.

Tue.            We will start with a view of Jerusalem from Haas Promenade, then drive to the Old City and follow in the footsteps of the 1948 story. After visiting the Kotel we will visit the memorial room, enter the Hurva Synagogue for a related tour and see Batei Machas Square where the Old City surrendered to the Arab Legion. We will continue to Zion gate and hear about the missed opportunity of ’48 and visit David’s tomb. In the afternoon we will visit the Underground Museum in the Russian compound.

Wed.         Jerusalem in 1948: From international city to the Jewish state capital:

Ramat Rachel – Kibbutz on the verge – blocked the Egyptian army from invading Jerusalem. We will visit the amazing olive tree statue and the viewpoint of the archeological site. From there to Katamon and San Simon – today an exclusive neighborhood, in 1948 the site of one of the harshest battles of the Palmach. Drive by the old Knesset building and  through Government Hill. Visit the Menorah thentour and enjoy the Israel Museum

Thu.           Open the Siege – along route number 1. We will start the day at the  Yvel jewelry factory in Motza to learn about Modern Zionism and Ethiopian integration. From there we continue to Kastel memorial – site of one of the major battles to open the road to Jerusalem. Then we will visit Abu Gosh, an Israeli Arab village, and learn about their special connection to the Jewish people by meeting with the locals.

Fri.             Tel Aviv – We will visit Independence Hall, where the state was declared. Tourh of Old Jaffa and the flea market.

Sat.             Shabbat Shalom

Sun.          Check out of Jerusalem hotels. We will start the day at  Nitzanim and visit the women fighters memorial. At Kibbutz Netiv Haasara on the Gaza border we will join the “Peace Mosaic” hands on activity. Lunch will be in Sderot – famous for its resilience. In the afternoon we will visit the Nir-am Museum of Water and Security and learn how the Negev became part of Israel. Overnight in Beer Sheva

Mon.         And the desert will bloom – we will start the day touring  the  Ben Gurion University campus, learning about our thriving country, then continue to Sde Boker to Ben Gurion’s hut to learn about the declarer of the state and his dreams. Enjoy the desert views at Mitzpe Ramon. Drive to Eilat via the beautiful Ramon crater. Overnight in Eilat.

Tue.          Eilat – “Um Rash Rash” and the Ink Flag.Last city liberated in the War of Independence. We will try to understand the importance and lure of this unique city, visiting the city museum and during a driven tour of Eilat. We will enjoy the underwater observatory and end the day with optional boat ride or jeep tour. Overnight in Eilat.

Wed.        Leave Eilat – late check out of hotel. Driving back north, we’ll start the day at Timna Nature Reserve including Solomon’s Pillars and learn about ancient copper mining.Then we will tour a desert kibbutz to learn the secrets of what it takes to flourish in the desert. Continue our drive along Arava Valley making out way back to Jerusalem via Dimona.

Thu.           Drive north to visit town of Eli in Binyamin region and meet with locals. Continue to Hadera to the First Aliyah Museum and enjoy a tour of a local winery.

Fri.             Free Day.

Sat.            Shabbat Shalom: Enjoy your last Shabbat in Yerushalayim. Evening checkout and transfer to airport.

Please add $50 registration fee (non-refundable).

Price based on double occupancy, single room occupants are subject to a single supplement.

Discount for children under 12.

Daily trips throughout the country.

2 Kosher meals per day – breakfast and dinner – Shabbat day lunch.

One group transfer from and to the airport in Israel

(group pickup will be determined by the majority of people arriving at the same time).

Tour entrance fees included.  Touring by air-conditioned bus, with licensed English speaking guides.

Lectures and group discussions. Free time.

Prices, itinerary, flight assignment and departure dates are subject to change.

Changes or cancellation of airline tickets could incur penalties.

Please refer to cancellation policy on the back of the reservation form.

Payments:

$100 Deposit per person with registration. One half of the balance is due 2 months prior to departure.

Full balance is to be paid 1 month before departure.

Cancellation within six weeks of departure will incur a penalty of $200.
