ITINERARY – HIGHLIGHTS
Sun. Schedule your departure to coincide with arrival into Israel on Monday. There will be one group pick up at the airport and this will be determined by the majority of the people arriving at the same time.
Mon. Arrival into Israel, or if in Israel already, make your way to Jerusalem and check into your choice of hotel to unpack and prepare to meet the group for dinner.
Tue. New Sites in Tel Aviv: Combine some Templar Germans, the IDF headquarters and modern hipsters and you get the Sarona Tour. Continue to the Tel Aviv Art Museum. Driven tour of the city and walking tour of Neve Tzedek. Stop at the Bullet Factory in Rehovot on the way back to Jerusalem.
Wed. In the Footsteps of our forefathers and foremothers: Our favorite day is laced with new sites; visit the Cave of the Machpela, see a new movie about Hevron, travel around Gush Etzyon. Tour a beer factory, Pat Bmelach Bakery & Kever Rochel.
Thu. Under your nose: See Jerusalem from a new perspective – Start the day with a visit to the Museum of Biblical Archeology and also the nearby North Africa Jewish Heritage Center. We will have a lunch break in the area before continuing to Har Hazetim, then on to the Emek Tzruim sifting project. Continue to the Jewish Quarter for an in depth tour and finish the day touring behind the scene at the Kotel tunnels.
Fri. Day in Bet El: View and short hike to Artas Hill – maybe the site of Jacob’s dream. Enjoy wine tasting at young Beit El Winery located amongst the vineyards. Visit Havat Efrayim, a small zoo with a touching story. Overview from Psagot and visit one of ancient Biblical sites of Ai mentioned in the book of Joshua.
Sat. Shabbat Shalom: Day at leisure to enjoy Shabbat in Jerusalem.
Sun. To the Galil: Drive via route 6 to the Galil and visit the Hula Valley Nature Reserve. Stop for lunch at Rosh Pina. Tour Tzefat. Optional boat ride on the Kinneret. Overnight in Tiberias.
Mon. Old Tverya: Take a tour of Old Tverya, see archeological sites from Roman-Byzantine period. Drive to the ecological village of Rotem. Visit basket weavers. Continue to Mifgash Habikaa for lunch break and see geographical model of the area. Drive to Kasr el Yahud on Jordan River and see where Joshua crossed the Jordan. Tour Kumeran site of Dead Sea scrolls. Overnight at the Dead Sea.
Tue. Dead Sea Area: Enjoy Dead Sea and Hotel spa. Visit Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, continue on to Massada Mountain. Travel on to Eilat. Overnight in Eilat.
Wed. Eilat: Enjoy the hotel premises or scout out the town. Today is a day of leisure. The tour offers a half day tour of Eilat including Underwater Observatory for a chance to meet fish face to face, optional jeep ride or scuba diving. You may also arrange in advance for a tour to Petra, Jordan. Overnight in Eilat.
Thu. Negev Region: Continue enjoying Eilat as we will have a late check out, returning to Jerusalem via the Negev Desert and the Ramon Crater. Visit Sde Boker and Ben Gurion’s Hut.
Fri. Free day.
Sat. Shabbat Shalom. Late checkout from the hotel and transfer to the airport for your return trip home.
